Featured Acupuncturist- Kristin Blake in Minneapolis, MN

Join me in welcoming our very first Featured Acupuncturist Kristin Blake! Kristin is an honored member of the Pediatric Acupuncture Directory and a truly gifted acupuncturist. We wanted to introduce Kristen to all of you.  So, please read below to find out more about her and her practice.

ristin BlakeKristin is a Licensed Acupuncturist in Minnesota and nationally certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine (NCCAOM). She received her Masters of Oriental Medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Minnesota. She has received advanced training with Soma Glick, D.O.M. and Robin Green, L.Ac. to further her knowledge of how to effectively treat children (from infants to adolescents!) with Chinese Medicine.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey to acupuncture:

My journey to Chinese medicine and healthier living started when I was a child. I had a number of health concerns and my parents were great at continually looking for other options that would improve my health. Chinese Medicine, as well as other alternative health care practices, became our regular source of health care as a family. That experience gave me a deeper understanding of my body, how it works, and what it means to have optimal health throughout my life. Now that I work in this field, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to share practical tools with families about how to care for themselves in a gentle and effective way.

What inspires you about working with kids?

Kids respond so quickly to such minimal treatment, it's incredible to see the body's healing response so powerfully in children! I also love seeing kids start to pay more attention to how they feel in their bodies, and help them learn how to feel their best through the choices they make in daily life.

What is your philosophy about keeping kids healthy?

Our culture doesn't always show us how to pay attention to what our bodies need, and how that may look different for each person in terms of diet, exercise, etc. My philosophy is all about helping each family member find the tools that work best for them and their bodies!

What is your practice name, location and website?

I practice at Family Tree Acupuncture in Minneapolis, MN  and you can find me on the web at www.familytreeacu.com

Do you have a specialty within pediatrics or are there certain conditions you like to treat?

I love treating children of all ages – from infant to adolescent! I am especially passionate about helping girls and young women find natural approaches to balancing hormones in their bodies and working with them to gracefully move through life's transitions.

  1. This actually makes me consider acupuncture, which I’ve never done before. I haven’t heard it discussed among my social circles. It must be an unpopular method in western society. I’d be curious to learn more. Thanks!

Acupuncture can be a great treatment option for everything from chronic pain to hormonal imbalances and it’s definitely going more mainstream in the past few years. I would seek out a local acupuncturist and pick their brain. Most would welcome questions about their practice! Thanks for reaching out!
