Featured Acupuncturist - Maureen Giese in Millburn, NJ

Join me in welcoming this month’s Featured Acupuncturist Maureen Giese! A gifted acupuncturist and masseuse, Maureen uses her talents for healing to improve her patients’ lives. It’s always wonderful to find another dedicated member of the pediatric acupuncture healing community, so, please read below to find out more about her and her practice.

Maureen is a 2010 graduate of the prestigious Pacific College of Oriental Medicine with a Masters of Traditional Oriental Medicine. She has since studied extensively with the Center for Advanced Acupuncture Pediatrics. Prior to her acupuncture training, Maureen received her massage degree from the esteemed Swedish Institute and a bachelors degree from Gettysburg College. She also holds a certification in pre and peri-natal massage from Body Therapy Associates.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your journey to acupuncture:

I sought acupuncture treatment for tendinitis when I was working as a personal trainer while in massage school. I was elated to find that while it healed my tendinitis swiftly and completely, it also resolved sleep and digestive issues I had experienced since childhood. This inspired me to seek acupuncture training shortly after graduating from massage school.

What inspires you about working with kids?

I love that children are inquisitive and interested in what is happening. I love that their problems can be solved completely, often taking them off of a path that might include long term problems or pharmaceutical interventions.

What is your philosophy about keeping kids healthy?

I think it is important to nip problems in the bud as soon as we identify them in children. I feel that proper nutrition is the first step to healing and encouraging kids to a path of wellness from a young age.
